#42 - Violent Videogames and Sleep
You’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t use technology in the hour before bed - right?
And you’ve likely heard that violent videogames are terrible for us, including our sleep.
Well back in 2008, we saw there was only one study that had tested this - and that study had a major error - meaning it could not conclude whether violent videogames affected sleep.
So we brought a bunch of teenagers into our sleep lab - and on one night they played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in the hour before their usual bedtime.
On another night they watched TV n the hour before bed.
And they performed both of these activities while in bed.
After these nights, we measured their sleep with the best measure possible - EEG.
What did we find?
