#142 - Big Sleep Week for Little Ones
At the end of this week we say G’day to the biggest sleep month of the year.
And to kick it off - March 1st is Baby Sleep Day.
We have Prof Jodi Mindell and her team to thank for the creation of Baby Sleep Day.
Since as long as I can recall, Jodi has mustered pediatric sleep experts from around the world to get on the Pediatric Sleep Council’s (PSC) facebook page, and answer questions from parents from all over the world.
In the words of Monty Python - now for something completely different.
This year the PSC is changing the delivery of scientific info.
So keep tabs on the PSC’s Facebook page to learn a host of baby sleep stuff from a host of baby sleep experts (including yours truly).
It might help you update your info if you help tired parents.
Or it might help you if the pitter patter of tiny feet disturbs your nights ….
This week also saw the birth of another baby.
Nope, my wife didn’t get preggers. Apparently that’s a 1-in-3000 chance since I got the snip!
Sleep Cycle Kids was born. It’s the new app from the folks who brought you the Sleep Cycle app.
Some people know of my story of developing a baby sleep app that started in 2016 - and began sinking from July 1st 2017. If you haven’t, here’s some insight in the wins and the losses.
So last year when my supercool boss CJ said that we were going to create a new app focused on baby sleep, it felt like a second chance.
I’ve had a great time working with many talented techy folks over the past several months. Their creativity has been stimulating to observe. And they’ve taught me about 4 Swedish words along the way …
And whilst I’m happy with what we’ve achieved - from using Sleep Cycle’s audio technology to automatically detect baby crying during the night - to enabling manual operation of sleep and wake recording on parents’ Apple Watches - to me it feels like we just poured the foundation.
There will be more coming …
