Get your hands on a range of measures to help you evaluate your practice of cognitive therapy for insomnia, and set-up sub-steps of the treatment (ie, behavioural experiments).
Hear about the scientific research validating the use of cognitive therapy for insomnia. What parts of sleep, daytime performance and cognitive processes benefit (and by how much?).
Learn step-by-step processes of teaching your clients cognitive skills to help arm them with ways to deal with ‘mind racing’
Module 2 - Cognitive Techniques
Learn about the origins and science behind two quick and easy cognitive techniques - constructive worry and mindfulness based body scan - including our own research (and why ‘journalling’ does not work).
What really sets this course apart is our research into technology use and sleep. Learn how you can use technology “in the hour before bed” to help your clients.
Learn how cognitive refocusing can help your clients to control their thinking and turn bedtime into a more positive event.
Module 1 raises your awareness of ‘attentional bias towards sleep-related threats’ - now learn how you can help your clients to switch off from their environment.
Take a ride with us as we take you through our research and clinical experiences exploring the use of ‘Sleep Perception Training’ to counter client’s perception that they are not getting enough sleep (and view our research into how many people with insomnia are getting more sleep than what they think).
Discover a forgotten cognitive technique that rivals that of Stimulus Control Therapy. It’s surprising and strange - yet it has more research supporting its use than Sleep Restriction Therapy.
Each Module consists of:
A 3-hr Online Video
Weekly Exercise
Weekly Practice Quiz
